A steady drumbeat, rythmic and powerful, penetrates the air with vibration. The echo of a gong perforates the silence, reverberatig in a stunning shimmer. Tibetan singing bowls, brilliant and clear, awaken the spirit, sweeping away distraction and bringing your attention to the moment. With sound as your guide, the journey inward begins...
Singing Bowl...
Made from an alloy of seven metals, Tibetan (or Himalayan) singing bowls produce clear, resonant tones. Sound healers sometimes place the bowls over one or more of the sever chakras (the body's energy centers) to help clear "blocks" and initiate healing. Crystal Singing bowls, made from quartz and available in varying sizes, produce clear notes that many sound-healing practitioners believe reset energy frequencies in the body.
How to Play...
Sit comfortably and hold the bowl in the open palm of one hand. Use the padded end of the baton to gently strike the bowl, creating a vibration. Then trace the rim using the wooden end, creating a sustained sound. Relax your arms and hold the baton gently-- just tight enough to keep a grip. You can also place the bowl before you on a flat surface (place fabric beneath for stability), or on your body over the chakras.
